E-READER VERSION - Guide Our Feet into the Way of Peace: Reflections for Advent & Christmas 2021 - This year’s Advent booklet is an historic retrospective, a companion piece to this past year's Lent booklet, gleaned from the past 40+ years of Advent booklets published by Pax Christi USA and including over 30 different authors, including Dianna Ortiz, OSU; Marie Dennis; Dr. Arturo Chávez; Jamie T. Phelps, OP, PhD; John Dear; Joan Chittister, OSB, and more. EXCERPT:
From Monday of the first week of Advent, Marie Dennis, writes: "In these days, we prepare for the Prince of Peace, but the deep roots of violence are nurtured all around us. We imagine what now seems impossible—“nor shall they train for war again”—while massive treasure and talent are invested in weapons and war-making. We know that war, violence, and the New Creation cannot coexist. As Christians, our worldview is defined by hope—hope for a real world without destructive violence. We human beings are subjects of a future in which life can be protected, not victims of a future over which we have no control..."
FROM THE INTRO:
From the introduction, by Pax Christi USA Executive Director Johnny Zokovitch: "With this Advent reflection booklet, we complete what we started back in Lent 2021, highlighting one of Pax Christi USA’s most enduring legacies and revisiting the words of wisdom and guidance so many have contributed over the past 40+ years in observing Advent and celebrating the Christmas season. ... I hope these reflections will be for you both roots of our past which continue to nourish and a springboard into this 50th anniversary year, 2022, and all that we will grow into over the next 50 years."
